There was someone I spoke to. Never got his name. Looked like Kadaj.

That was him. One of Kadaj’s apparent “brothers”, and all that entails.

I’m fine. [We all know what that means — that the real answer is more complicated than that.] I think in this case, it might have been for the best.

[Mhm. He knows him well enough by now to wonder. But;]

He mentioned you lived together. Were you bonded?

No. I’m sure he wanted to achieve some form of independence beyond remaining bonded to me.

[Well, even that was complicated and doubtful. Sephiroth wonders.]

Or he was merely being difficult.

[That's something then. The way that bonding works, when someone leaves, it hurts. It really hurts. Physical hurt, emotional hurt- the works. The worst is feeling like a part of yourself is gone, too.

But, from what he's picking up, Sephiroth won't have to deal with that.]

Could've been both. We barely spoke, so I didn't know him. But I do know he wasn't all that easy to deal with.

Speaking of difficult things- sorry to change the subject, but I saw something weird in the forest a couple nights ago. I don't want to let it alone, but I've got a feeling it's going to be rough.

Cwyld. Though it's not a couple of 'em. More like a couple hundred. I think I found a nest about 5 miles away from the city.

[It's not that far, so getting rid of it's probably the only thing to do. And, barring Zack, he's not all that confident anyone else would be able to manage it. ...But then, Zack's not doing all that well after their last run-in with the Cwyld.
